Warm up tips!
Warm Ups
So the aim of any warm up for a Vibe Cycle class is to raise the bodies intake of oxygen ie increase heart rate, to set good technique and posture and to put in place the Vibe cycle philosophy of working to music beat and rhythm and to give them their lead leg be it right or left - you have to make the decision and then stick to it!
In all my warm ups I tend to choose upbeat rhythms at a quick pace - tracks under the bpm speed of 132 are acceptable and I would use the quicker pace for these tracks. Remember in every track there tends to be 3 speeds - the real time speed like a strong walk, the faster pace which is termed as a sprint and the very slow hill walk pace. The focus is on increasing the heart rate, setting good technique and posture through verbal queuing and by your own demonstration, whilst also putting in place the Vibe Cycle philosophy. Shouting our motto 'Don't Just Ride, Feel The Vibe' always gets it off to a good start!
Working with a slow beat in the warm up would see participants having
to have a high level of resistance to keep rhythm which could lead to early fatigue due to lactic acid build up where the emphasis has been on slow and strength.
Like any class your content needs to be varied in order to vary the intensity and pace of your clients! Drive and recovery tracks allow participants to fully facilitate each track. One of the best form of training types is 'interval training' and do remember this for some of your sessions. Hard core blasting may prove your own fitness level but is not always a good training method for everyone in the room - as I always say 'ego's outside the room please!' That generally works!! Or 'Oh please! Get a grip people!' however far you can push the verbal correction! The absolute cardinal sin is to ride with no resistance, no no no no no! Get it! It's not safe, its not effective - other than upping the ego, wasted - they've come to ride so make em ride!
